AXA Health makes it easy for customers to not only choose the right coverage but also conveniently manage it. Every fall, it reminds its customers to digitally switch to the suitable obligatory basic insurance with ease. And in this way, AXA has successfully entered the health insurance market.

CHALLENGE

DIGITAL FIRST MOVER

AXA wanted to conquer the health insurance market with competent digital experiences and automated processes. It introduced access to self-service portals for end customers in 2016, a time when digital premium calculators were still a novelty. This meant customers could independently configure insurance products, calculate quotes, and take out policies themselves. These features resultantly also changed the advisory landscape. Health insurance advisors needed easy access to these features through a tool that could help them serve their customers better.

AXA therefore planned to develop two apps: one for end customers and one for insurance advisors. Seamlessly connecting the apps to the back office was a complex technical challenge: but fundamental to ensuring an end-to-end digital customer experience.

WITH AXA HEALTH, WE CREATED ONE OF SWITZERLAND'S FIRST DIGITAL HEALTH PLATFORMS

END CUSTOMER APPS

Customers can conveniently take out AXA supplementary insurance digitally at any point in time. Moreover, they can benefit from the basic insurance switching service: every fall, they receive a proposal for a suitable basic insurance policy. This proposal is generated according to some individual parameters, like insurance model or deductible. If necessary, AXA will carry out the switching itself. Thanks to the app, insurance advisors can configure products in real time while talking to the customer and create quotes directly in the app.

BACKOFFICE APP

The implementation of machine learning accelerates back-office processes and greatly improves customer experience. For example, documents pertaining to insurance claims are automatically recognized and processed – enabling customers to get their money back faster. (By the way, this project effectively gave birth to our “AI in a Box” solution. Thanks to the automated processes, AXA employees can once again concentrate entirely on advising customers.

INTEGRATION LAYER

An integration layer connects the core system with the applications. This ensures a seamless customer experience. If the core system is offline, the integration layer comes into play and bridges this impediment. This is what enables the customers, for instance, to calculate quotes while end-of-day processing is being performed.
