Aroov has become a central component of many companies' digitization strategy. The platform was so successful that it successfully merged with the market leader in 2021.

CHALLENGE

FROM A VISION TO A VERSION IN RECORD TIME

Aroov was launched in 2019 by Mobiliar and Garaio REM as an independent company. The start-up was under some pressure to implement an ambitious vision in a very short time. All teams needed to show great flexibility. For the development of the MVP, the start-up worked with two agencies at once: Ginetta (design) and 3ap (technology). Orchestrating all teams – business, design and technology – was a big challenge for aroov.

TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE

aroov is based on a microservices architecture. The services run in Google Kubernetes Engine on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). For the low-level infrastructure, we chose GCP’s managed solutions: Cloud SQL for the database, Cloud Pub/Sub for message queues and Cloud Storage for media files. The solution is installed in Google’s Zurich zone to keep personal data in Switzerland.

BACKEND

Our backend system supports both the applicant and the property manager workflows. For the applicants, applying to multiple apartments is a breeze: Our backend logic automatically fills in the form with the data from the last application, so all you have to do is put the finishing touches before submitting. It is an easy task for property managers to view all applications in one central location, accept or reject them, and communicate with applicants.

INTEGRATIONS

We’ve integrated Garaio REM, an industry-leading property management system (PMS). This is where property managers store their apartment and applicant data. As soon as a new apartment is available in the PMS, it immediately appears in the marketplace. All apartment applications are received in aroov, where the selection process takes place. Once the future tenant has been determined, his or her dossier is transferred to PMS. From there, property managers can create the rental contract with just a few clicks. Besides the integration with Garaio REM, aroov also imports selected available apartments from Immoscout24.
